Temperature and duration of vernalization effect on the vegetative growth of garlic (<i>Allium sativum</i> L.) clones in Indonesia

Abstract Garlic is usually propagated asexually from the cloves. Clove as propagation source for garlic has many weaknesses. Alternatively, bulbils could be used propagation. The aim of this study was to know effect temperature and time vernalization several clones Indonesian bulbil production. This research conducted at a farmer’s field Banjarnegara, Central Java, Indonesia. experiment arranged in Completely Randomized Block Design with three factors: vernalization, i.e., 0, 5, 10°C, duration 20, 40, 60 days, on 12 varieties/clones (V1–V12). Cloves were vernalized cold storage according treatments then planted field. results revealed that 5°C 20 days independently single factor increased number V3. Bulbil variables V4 V7 enhanced 0°C although it did not significantly differ control. Therefore, these do need particular treatment order produce bulbils.
